J. Hoffmeister is an associate professor of finance with the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He joined ASU in 1983. His prior academic appointments include positions with the University of Colorado, and University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Professor Hoffmeister's research interests include corporate governance, dividends and their impact on the marginal investor, CEO turnover and layoffs. He has received multiple awards for his teaching. These include the State Farm Undergraduate Teaching Award (2003), the Department of Finance, Furst Curriculum Grant (1999 and 2002). He was also nominated for the John W. Teets Outstanding Teaching Award in 2001.
