Bio

Russell is Assistant Research Professor in the T. Denny Sanfrod School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Ph.D. in Family Studies and Human Development in May 2011 and completed a postdoctoral training fellowship with the Prevention Research Center at Arizona State University from 2011-2012. Russell’s research primarily focuses on how school, peer, and family contexts contribute to health and well-being for marginalized young people (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and transgender (LGBT) and ethnic minority youth). The driving force behind his research is to improve the lives of young people by identifying the processes that promote well-being and reduce risk.  In addition to his substantive research interests, he is also interested in the use and development of advanced quantitative methodologies, such as longitudinal structural models, multilevel modeling, and interdependent data analysis (such as, social relations modeling). Russell can be contacted at Russell.Toomey@asu.edu
