Bio

Elizabeth Brake was educated at The Universities of Oxford (B.A.) and St. Andrews (M. Litt., PhD).  From 2000-2011, she taught in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Calgary, Canada; in 2007-2008 she held a Fellowship at the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs, Murphy Institute, Tulane University.  She has written on political liberalism, Kant's and Hegel's ethical thought, parental rights and responsibilities, and marriage.  Her recent book on marriage in moral and political philosophy, Minimizing Marriage, is published by Oxford University Press.  She has also edited a collection of new essays on the future of marriage law, After Marriage, forthcoming with Oxford University Press in January 2016.  Her current research is on the state's role in disaster response: http://whatswrongcvsp.com/2015/09/28/why-not-privatize-disaster-response-the-political-significance-of-unnatural-disasters/
