Stephen is the Manager of Learning Services for ASU Library, where he coordinates the activities and operations of Noble Library. In addition to the daily responsibilities assumed as supervisor, Stephen provides the critical role of supporting staff by: knowing their needs, providing the requisite resources to be successful, maintaining open channels of communication, and assuming a personal interest in their professional development. He assumes primary oversight of operations within Noble Library, including: functionality, security, policies and procedures, and similar concerns which arise. As a Manager for Learning Services, Stephen's responsibilities extend outside the daily operations of Noble Library. He contributes to the development of the directorate within its overall progress to the Learning Service's mission of: service for the ASU community, supporting student success, access to the collection, and the library as a collaborative and open study space.
Prior to coming to ASU, Stephen worked for the Scottsdale Public Library. Stephen is an employee of ASU since April 2013 and a member of ASU Library Engagement and Learning Services. Before assuming his current position, Stephen managed Course Reserve services at ASU's Hayden Library and oversaw the Ask a Librarian chat/email service. Stephen currently serves on the Residency Appeals Hearing Committee for ASU and has done so since January of 2017. He enjoys getting to be a mentor to others as a supervisor and helping library users research their assignments.
After graduating college Stephen worked for the National Park Service, constructing trails in the backcountry. Stephen is a native of Arizona and loves living in the state. He enjoys hiking the local trails, exploring the backcountry, supporting the professional Arizona sports teams, and has a passion for traveling.
