Long Bio
Amy is the Director of Learning Technology for the Office of the Provost at Arizona State University and has led instructional design teams for the College of Global Futures, The School of Life Sciences, and Thunderbird. She is devoted to building inclusive courses that effectively implement emerging technologies for all students. She promotes collaborative course design with a partnership between faculty and instructional designers and advocates for evidence-based teaching practices, innovative technologies, and continual iterative review processes for improving courses. She enjoys helping grad students prepare for careers in teaching and alternative academic positions in teaching and learning centers
Collaborating with the Research for Inclusive STEM Education Center (RISE), Amy developed training modules for a fellowship for grad students and faculty to build skills in Inclusive Teaching and rework their courses to promote a sense of belonging for all students. She has worked with virtual reality simulations for lab classes and helped develop guidelines for inclusive avatars in partnership with vendors.
Amy’s research included studies in faculty development in higher education, and digital competencies. Her most recent research uses international academic partnerships to create opportunities for instructional designers to develop skills for designing online courses for global learners. This research has expanded to include collaboration on a case study with two international institutions, leading a "Global ID" professional group, and presentations at the University of Helsinki and Munster University. She has also mentored two Fulbright scholars from Pakistan and Mexico in their research on instructional design and faculty development.
