Bio

Tim S. Ayers, Ph.D.,  Associate Professor of Research, Prevention Research Center

Tim did his graduate training at Arizona State University within the Clinical Psychology Program. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Yale School of Medicine within The Consultation Center in New Haven, Ct and completed a post-doctoral fellowship within the Psychology Department at Yale University.   He took his first academic appointment within the School of Medicine at Yale and was there for a little more than two years before returning to Arizona and joining the faculty within the Prevention Research Center as a Research Faculty member.  

Over the past twenty-five years he has have been involved in the development of prevention programs for families who have experienced a variety of stressful circumstances. Within the bereavement area, he has helped to design and carefully evaluate ASU’s Family Bereavement Program, a preventive intervention for families that have experienced the death of a parent. His substantive research interests include the assessment of coping and competence in children and adolescents, the assessment of complicated grief and identifying modifiable risk and protective factors for children who have experienced parental death.
