The Bachelor of Science program in dietetics provides a comprehensive foundation for students aspiring to become registered dietitians. This program blends coursework in anatomy, physiology, chemistry and nutrition. Students are equipped with the knowledge to promote health through dietary interventions and readied for diverse roles in health care.
Crucially, students are prepared to apply for a dietetic internship and related master's degree programs, both of which are required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to sit for the registration exam. This program may be eligible for an Optional Practical Training extension for up to 24 months. This OPT work authorization period may help international students gain skills and experience in the U.S. Those interested in an OPT extension should review ASU degrees that qualify for the STEM-OPT extension at ASU's International Students and Scholars Center website.
The OPT extension only applies to students on an F-1 visa and does not apply to students completing a degree through ASU Online.

The nutrition and dietetics field provides graduates with employment opportunities in a variety of areas:
- client consultation, including for diabetes management or weight loss education
- food and nutritional product development
- food and nutrition marketing and sales
- nutrition and health promotion
- pediatric and geriatric settings
- public health
- school food service
Graduates may find opportunities in hospitals and other health care facilities or public health agencies.
Most graduates of this program pursue further education and credentials such as:

3 year programs

Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
