The Master of Science program in nursing is ideal for nurses looking to gain advanced education and skills in the translation of concepts, practices and principles of leadership. The degree is designed for nurses who think about the future and are ready to take the next step in their career. Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, this program emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety and health care quality, informatics and leadership.
Coursework is delivered completely online, providing students with the flexibility to focus on both their education and career goals. Additionally, a one-credit population health practicum is completed where the student lives. Throughout the program, students learn about leadership, innovative thinking and interprofessional team collaboration, and they advance their skills in leadership, research, evidence-based practice, evaluation, critical thinking, health care quality and patient safety.
Students complete direct care clinical hours and a role-focused applied practicum that allows them to work with a preceptor in an area or role best suited to their career goals.
RN to MS in nursing option
Students who have an associate degree in nursing can consider pursuing ASU's online RN to MS in nursing bridge option.

Additional Curriculum Information
Students in the RN to MS in nursing bridge program complete 36 credit hours for this degree. In addition to fulfilling the requirements listed above, these students must complete NUR 552 Dynamics of Professional Nursing I (3) and NUR 553 Dynamics of Professional Nursing II (3) before starting the MS curriculum. Proof of statistics completion with a C or better is required (applicants may be admitted to the program with additional required coursework in statistics).
Statistics is a required prerequisite for all MS in nursing programs.

Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in their associate degree nursing program or the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.
All applicants must be licensed as Registered Nurses and fulfill the admission requirements of both the Graduate College and the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

- two letters of recommendation
- professional resume
- written statement
- proof of statistics completion with a C or better (applicants may be admitted to the program with additional required coursework in statistics)
- proof of English proficiency
Additional Application Information
An applicant whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency regardless of their current residency.
Those applying only with an associate degree completed will need to provide a transcript that shows at least 72 earned undergraduate credit hours from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent, and students who are admitted with an associate degree will be required to complete additional coursework in their plan of study.
All students are also required to have an unencumbered Arizona RN license or an unencumbered compact state RN license as mandated by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The RN license must remain unencumbered throughout enrollment in any nursing program.
Students residing in the following states are not eligible for enrollment in this program due to state authorizations: Louisiana, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington.
An interview with faculty may be required for applicants who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree or higher. Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree are required to interview with faculty.

3 year programs

Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
