Sports can bring communities together, at home and abroad, despite language and cultural differences. Studying abroad gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in a different culture and build skills that enable them to navigate the intricacies of planning and executing community sport events where people of different cultural backgrounds gather. Students who study abroad can achieve heightened cultural competency and leadership and critical thinking skills.
Students with a background in managing community sports events can find employment with:
- campus recreation departments
- health and fitness clubs
- morale welfare and recreation departments in the armed forces
- nonprofit organizations
- parks and recreation departments
- private sports organizations
